On 28 October 2024 Grand Strand Detachment 873, Marine Corps League donated much needed items to the VA clinic to help needly and homeless veterans. Candy Anderson, Voluntary Service Specialist and Gerry Davies Quartermaster showing some of the items.
This year, the Marine Corps League Grand Strand Detachment 873 will be assisting Santa. Prepare for the Marine Elves to drop off boxes to be filled with toys.
On 10 - 11 October Members of the Grand Strand Detachment 873 made a field trip MCRD Parrris Island SC. Everyone had a great time, bring back old memories of their time at Parris Island. We had a total of 18 including members and guests who attended the two-day event.
Litinerary for the road trip
On Saturday 17 August 2024 the Grand Strand Detachment 873, Marine Corps League held their 3rd annual golf tournament at Wild Wing Plantation. There were 27 foursomes (108 total players). Mother Natural was cooperating, the weather was ideal not too hot, just right with a slight breeze. The scores were low with a lot of competition between the teams.
Everyone had a great time.

Marine Corps League Detachment 873-member, Ken Laukhuff was one of the organizers for "Make-A-Wish Mother's Day Truck Convoy" fundraiser back in 1990 in
Lancaster County Pennsylvania. In 2024 will be their 35th consecutive year and will mark their milestone. This annual event raised more than 9 million for Make-A-Wish foundation. When Ken first started this event, he has set the Guinness World Record three times for the world's largest truck convoy. On 09 April 2024 Grand Strand Detachment 873 had the installation of Officers. From right to left - Lee Morton - Judge Advocate, Greg Price - Commandant, Chris Praet - Senior Vice Commandant, and Chuck Davies Jr. Vice Commandant.

On 26 March 2024 the Grand Strand Detachment 873 donated items of clothing and household items to the VA for Veterans in need. Presenting the items to Candy Anderson Voluntary Service Specialist and Detachment 873 Quartermaster Gerry Davies.
On 13 February 2023, Detachment 873 celebrated their 30th anniversary with the Marine Corps League
